Bruce has worked as a scientific photographer, scientific illustrator, biological research technician, electron microscopist, laboratory instructor, university laboratory manager, systems development programmer, embedded systems programmer, software development manager for a business computer manufacturer, executive vice president of a contract product development house, engineering and manufacturing vice president of a wireless LAN manufacturing company, director of engineering, senior scientist in charge of software quality and customer service for a semiconductor company, and CEO of a contract software testing and development business.

He received his MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2003.
