Building Business

The Building Business Excellence Program (BBE) is the outgrowth of a partnership consisting of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the University of Texas at San Antonio’s (UTSA’s) Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) and UTSA’s Institute for Economic Development. Its mission is to stimulate business growth and job creation in San Antonio and surrounding communities.

Participants learn how the traditional business functions of marketing, accounting, finance, production and management blend together in the strategic context of a business model. Exploring critical questions and answers that guide the development of their own business growth plan is a major component of the program.

The BBE is about working ON your business, working IN your business and working on YOU.

Building Business Excellence in 2004: Stories in Success

The industry variety represented by the 2004 BBE participants was an important factor in the growth experienced by each. During the early sessions, the following companies quickly formed a bond that was evidenced by their eagerness to help one another work through both common and unusual business challenges. Proudly, the BBE congratulates them on their completion of the program:

  • Discount Laser, Inc – Supplier of remanufactured toner cartridges for printers, faxes and copiers. Supplier of new, compatible and OEM products
  • ETM Computer Services – Information technology (IT) company offering network support, computer sales, service & upgrades, security assessments and cabling
  • FaceKey Technology, Inc – Manufacturer of security access and control
  • Flying Circle Bags – Soft luggage manufacturer and distributor selling to military and civilian markets
  • Gus Mann Automotive – Complete automotive maintenance and repair
  • Siew Pang Imports, Inc – Retail gift shops selling imported goods located within the San Antonio mercado and San Antonio International Airport
  • TotalCom Management, Inc – Voice data cabling design and installation, fire, security, access control, CCTV and telephone systems
