Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology (STTR)
The SBIR program, sponsored by 11 federal agencies, is a highly successful program which spends over $3 billion on technology research annually. The program's purpose is to develop and commercialize new technologies that enable the U.S. to maintain its technological competency for defense readiness.
Through this program, small technology businesses can secure up to $850,000 in federal funding for research and development projects. They can then leverage those funds into partnerships with research institutions, universities and manufacturers to commercialize new technologies.
